| This is the page to visit if you want to just browse and see how noir has grown and mutated over time. Like many pages on this site, this one too is continually under construction. I am attempting to include all aspects of noir in a cross-linked timeline--from the roman noir (and all its variations, from the hard-boiled private eye novel to the paperback pulp fiction of the 50s and 60s) to film noir (directors, actors, actresses, writers), along with some links to noir music, animation and historical events of importance. The pages are very graphically oriented, and may take some time to load. I've tried to include as many vintage or first edition cover scans as possible, as clickable thumbnail links. In the future, I plan to change the basic structure of this page from being organized by decade to a yearly breakdown so individual pages will load faster.
